The investigation dealt with the suffering of women day laborers After the spread of the Corona virus, where job opportunities declined and they became unable to provide for their basic needs. They were also exposed to HIV infection and their health condition deteriorated without receiving appropriate medical care.
Impact reached:
The project presented the tragedy of these women and drew the community's attention to the dangers they were exposed to, as their livelihood opportunities retreated after they faced the risk of death after contracting the virus, and there was no opportunity to work and no source of income to live or even buy treatment
Techniques/technologies used:
I relied on live and direct imaging and interviewing cases in separate places across the country, as the virus affected large sectors of workers We moved between the governorates and filmed with the cases in the workplace to monitor the suffering and heard from them the problems and dangers they were exposed to. We documented the information with official numbers from the unions to which these workers belong, and from official statistical sources
What was the hardest part of this project?
It was difficult for us to move between governorates to monitor these cases in light of the spread of the virus, which put our lives at risk, especially since we met cases that were infected with the virus and did not take into account the necessary precautions against infection because they are very simple people who do not have sufficient funds to protect themselves from danger and we met them at their work sites to monitor The problems they suffer from
What can others learn from this project?
The importance of documenting information from the owners of the problem themselves and the importance of moving to them in any place or time and meeting them according to their nature, whether in daily life or work to monitor the human dimension of them in order to reach the sense of the issue at hand to the reader. The investigation must also be documented by video, because it gives importance to the written investigation and the need for the journalist to support the information He gets it in numbers
