Biography:

After 5 years at El Confidencial, I currently coordinate the Data Journalism Unit at the Spanish leading newspaper, El País. I’m a member of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) and I played a leading role in the Spanish chapters of cross-border investigations ‘Lux Leaks’, ‘Swiss Leaks’, the Pulitzer winning investigation known as The Panama Papers or the Pandora Papers.

Project description:

We bring to light, for the first time, all the sanctions against nursing homes in Spain. We also analyze how administrations inspect and fine with very low penalties those homes that do not comply with the legislation.

Impact reached:

We created and published the first ever database of all the sanctioned nursing homes in Spain, to make it availavble to general public.

What was the hardest part of this project?

To fill request of information to all the regional administration in Spain and persuade them to make the data public
