Project description:
Al Jazeera used forensic analysis and witness testimonies to expose a secret interrogation centre and allegations of torture in Myanmar.

Documents in vivid detail the crackdown of thousands of detainees are held in jails and army compounds across Myanmar.
Techniques/technologies used:
Using witness testimonies, photographs, and satellite images, we pinpoint the exact locations of a covert interrogation center in Shwepyitha township.
What was the hardest part of this project?
Reconstructing the interrogation center and documenting the stories of torture and abuse.
What can others learn from this project?
Witness testimonies are sometimes the most compelling aspects of an investigative data story.
