Project description:

This long-form piece explored how, through data, we can try to think about the future when everything seems so uncertain and how to explore why we’re so bad at predicting the future. The project also included a tarot reading to show what tools we, as individuals, can use to better think about the future.

Impact reached:

The impact of our project was to connect to the data journalism community and show readers how lifestyle-led pieces can still be data-driven and relatable, whatever your level.

Techniques/technologies used:

Google Sheets; Microsoft Excel; Google Co Lab; Python; Adobe Illustrator

What was the hardest part of this project?

Trying to get all our ideas in it! There is so much more we could have explored, but even as a long-form piece it still needed to be short enough to be accessible to all kinds of readers.

What can others learn from this project?

That lifestyle journalism and data journalism can sit together in harmony and in turn, provide support and become a powerful form of service journalism.
