Project description:

The story was done by me in which I covered the maximum of Asia pacific and collected the data of how many doctors have died while serving on the front lines. It included the data of nurses and paramedical staff also. In this detailed story, I also expanded the discussion that the lack of personal protective equipment played a vital role in affecting the doctors. Most of the Asian countries do not have strong healthcare facilities and they are not ready to cater a huge number of patients in a pandemic. 

Impact reached:

After this report, many countries started keeping the record of doctors separately and provided them personal protective equipment because if doctors cannot protect themselves then how they are supposed to look after the patients. 

As the data was gathered from different countries I was able to give a diverse approach to the readers about Asian countries. 

Techniques/technologies used:

I used the survey method and when I talked with the doctors to get the details which I prepared the questionnaire and got the answers. 

On the other hand, when it came to collect the data I took the content analysis approach and browsed the official websites of all these countries and collected the data. After collecting the data I doubled checked the numbers with the spokespersons of health ministries and then quoted the figures. 

 

 

What was the hardest part of this project?

It was extremely difficult to get the authentic data from these countries as no one was maintaining a separate data base of the doctors who have died due to this novel coronavirus. Every country was maintaining the death toll over all. It was extremely difficult to separate the numbers of doctors, in which the organisations working for doctors or local medical associations helped alot but it took a lot of time to get in touch with each of them then double checking the numbers with the official sources. 

What can others learn from this project?

The foremost thing is never compromised your work and if you are getting threats never let them pressurise you. It is you who has the reponsibility to tell people what is actually happening on the ground. so never get intimidated if you are doing just your work #journslismisnotacrime
